  • This workshop is based on the New York Times best seller The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman, Ph.D.

The principles outlined in this book and workshop teach couples new strategies for making their relationships work. Based on over 40 years of research, this workshop will give you new insights and research-based skills that can improve your relationship and manage conflict in a healthy, positive way.

  • Through this workshop, you will learn how to:

    • Foster respect, affection and closeness

    • Build and share a deeper connection with each other's inner world

    • Keep conflict discussions calm

    • Break through and resolve conflict gridlock

    • Strengthen and maintain the gains in your relationship

  • This workshop is designed for all couples, including:

    • Married couples

    • Pre-engaged couples (those considering marriage)

    • Engaged or Premarital couples (those taking steps toward marriage)

    • Every phase of relationships, from newlyweds to senior couples

    • Those who wish to enhance an already “good” marriage or relationship

    • Those needing better conflict management tools

    • Those considering couples therapy but who are not "ready" for weekly therapy yet

    • People of all backgrounds, ages, faiths and sexual orientations

With the demands of everyday routines, couples often find themselves struggling to maintain a strong and healthy relationship. Even the most loving relationships can feel the strain of communication breakdowns and unresolved conflicts. This workshop is meant to help you and your partner navigate these challenges in a healthy and positive way.

About Our Presenter

Dr. Clay Brigance, PhD, LPC

Clay has become one of St. Louis’s leading practitioners for couple therapy, and is one of the country’s leading experts on the impacts of infertility and reproductive loss.

Clay specializes in working with individual men, folks struggling with infertility and loss, as well as couples struggling with conflict, communication, and emotional connection.

This Workshop is not a replacement for therapy

The Seven Principles Program provides an intensive immersion experience to teach couples tools they can immediately apply to their marriage. This program offers you and your partner practical guidance in a shorter time period than traditional therapy. You will not be sharing personal problems publicly with the rest of the group.

*If you are dealing with emotional abuse, domestic violence, unwanted touch, or substance abuse, this class is not appropriate and you should instead seek individual or couples therapy which we also offer.
